When manure breaks down it produces methane, a greenhouse gas, which can be collected, cleaned and converted into energy for residential or business use. We currently have two manure digesters operating in Dane County that capture methane gas.
There are several solar projects that provide energy for our offices, buildings and parks. This page highlights those projects and provides links to energy dashboards with real-time information on the energy being generated.
We have transitioned part of our vehicle fleet to compressed natural gas (CNG), converted some park maintenance equipment to electric, and provided telecommuting opportunities to staff. Also, Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations are available at some parks and facilities.
