Each aquatic plant harvester is equipped with sensors that record data once per minute, including:

  • GPS: The harvester’s location (latitude and longitude) whenever the engine is on and running, not only when it is actively cutting.
  • Draft: The distance between the waterline and the deepest point of the harvester. This measurement is used to estimate the weight of collected aquatic plants and is displayed as both harvest rate (tons per hour) and total harvest (tons).
  • Temperature: Water temperature, which plays an important role in aquatic plant growth.
  • Conductivity: A measure of how easily water conducts electrical current. It provides a quick indicator of water quality by showing the amount of dissolved salts, minerals, and other charged particles (ions) in the water.

Data is collected onboard and uploaded to the website in batches throughout the day. Because of this, mapped harvester locations are not shown in real time. However, the data does support daily tracking of harvester activity and estimated harvesting rates.
