Dane County is required under NR 109 Wis. Admin. Code to update Aquatic Plant Management Plans every five years for waterbodies where the county harvests aquatic plants. Plan amendments for Lakes Waubesa and Kegonsa have been drafted and are linked below. The amendments also include updated data analyses for aquatic plants present in both lakes. No significant changes are currently proposed by LWRD staff on harvesting priorities maps.
Final submittal to DNR for approval will take place in early February 2025. A public meeting will be held on December 2, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Town of Dunn Town Hall at 4156 County Road B, McFarland WI. In this meeting, staff will present information about the updated plan amendments. Staff will also discuss the results of aquatic plant surveys and review existing harvest priority maps.
Public comments will be taken at the meeting and via email to jopke.peter@danecounty.gov until January 31, 2025.
