Dane County provides support to producer-led watershed groups located within the county by request. Support may include: education and outreach activities, planning and technical services, or partnering as the collaborator, partner, or fiscal agent. The Producer-led Watershed program is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) and offers grants for groups to be formed.

There are three Producer-led Watershed Groups that are located wholly in the county:

• Yahara Pride Farms
• Farmers for the Upper Sugar River
• Biological Farming Friends

There are also three groups that are partially located in the county:

• Farmers of the Sugar River
• Lake Wisconsin Farmer Watershed Council
• Sauk Soil & Water Improvement Group
