Event Description

Join the Friends of Schumacher Farm and the Madison Astronomical Society for a magical evening under the stars at this free, family-friendly event!

We'll kick things off at 6 PM with a glimpse of the crescent moon at sunset, followed by an engaging indoor session inside the Center for Rural History. You'll learn the basics of stargazing, types of observing gear, and see stunning astronomical photographs. After the sky gets dark, we’ll head back outside to explore the night sky through a variety of telescopes. We hope to see Saturn and its moons, dazzling star clusters, double stars, and perhaps even a galaxy or two! A dedicated naked-eye and binocular observation station will be led by a night sky expert, and a special camera/computer setup will project breathtaking views of celestial objects in vivid detail. The event will wrap up between 8-9 pm.

RSVPs are encouraged but drop-ins are welcome.

Note: This event is weather-dependent. In case of postponement, updates will be shared via email to those who RSVP'd, as well as on our website and social media.
