A Youth Screening of "An Invitation to Wonder: Waubesa Wetlands" & Family Paddle

Join us at the Lussier Family Heritage Center for a special youth screening and discussion of An Invitation to Wonder: Waubesa Wetlands. This event focuses on fostering intergenerational connections between youth and their guardians. After the film, there will be short, engaging activities designed for youth to reflect on and share their learnings. Following the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to rent a canoe and enjoy a paddling experience on Lake Waubesa, offering a chance to explore the wetland area featured in the film. 

About the film
Guided by the wisdom of his grandfather Calvin (Cal) DeWitt, young filmmaker Ben Albert journeys through the mysterious world of the Waubesa Wetlands in this exploration of natural wonder and the intrinsic bond between humans and nature.

Navigating the challenges of this environment and learning from his grandfather – a wetland scientist who has lived on the marsh’s edge for over 50 years – Albert captures the wetland ecosystem in a new light. By combining Albert’s visuals with DeWitt’s knowledge and wisdom, the film uncovers the life, mysteries, and value of wetlands in a way never seen before. The shorten version of this film is approximately 60 minutes.

Screening Cost: $5 per person 
ADD ON - Family Paddle Cost: : $20 per canoe rental (canoes must have at least 1 adult and another individual age 9 and up paddling) or $10 per boat (bring your own boat) 

Schedule

10 am - 12 pm: Screening & Activities at Lussier Family Heritage Center 
12 - 1 pm: Break for lunch 
1 - 3 pm: Family Paddle on Lake Waubesa. Meet at Goodland County Park.
