Dane County Lakes and Watershed Commission Waters Champion Award Ceremony – Thursday, June 3, 2010

Who:   Dane County Lakes and Watershed Commission, along with the Clean Lakes Alliance, presents the Waters Champion Award Ceremony to recognize outstanding contributions to the protection, conservation and improvement of Dane County lakes and streams.

What: Annual award ceremony, held during Dane County Lakes and Watershed Commission’s Take a Stake in the Lakes Days (June 3 – 26).  Four awards are being presented:

  • Individual: Susan Josheff,whose commitment to Dane County’s waters and whose work on their behalf has resulted in a significant and lasting improvement in water quality, in our appreciation of the waters and in the future health of the County’s water resources
  • Business: Aqua Terra Stormwater Management LLC, whose practices and values demonstrate an active and positive commitment to “doing well by doing good” through on-going efforts to protect and improve water quality in Dane County
  • Organization: City of Fitchburg Environmental Project Staff,  whose mission and accomplishments demonstrate a commitment to protecting and improving water quality in Dane County through the efforts of its members, through outreach and public awareness programs and through hands-on projects.
  • Youth or youth group: Girl Scout Troop #2498,whose activities to improve and protect Dane County’s water resources have resulted in a significant and lasting improvement in water quality and or quantity; or demonstrate success through outreach and public awareness programs and through hands-on projects.

"These true champions of our lakes and streams go above and beyond and lead the way in improving our water quality in Dane County," said Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk.

 5:30 - 6:30p.m. (program at 6 p.m.),

Rooftop of the Original Edgewater Hotel, 666 Wisconsin Avenue in Madison, as part of an event sponsored by the Clean Lakes Alliance

Why: The Dane County Lakes and Watersheds Commission, a coordinating and advisory agency, serves to protect and raise awareness of water quality, as well as the scenic, economic, recreational and environmental value of Dane County’s water resources.
