Farmer's for the Upper Sugar River Pop-Up Field Day

The Farmers for the Upper Sugar River are pleased to invite you to a pop-up field day at Kahl's Farm. This event will provide the opportunity to observe cover crops that were drone-seeded into corn grain, as well as a stand of camelina. We will assess the progress of these two different cover crops following a particularly harsh winter. 

The rye was drone-seeded into standing corn in early September, while camelina was both drone-seeded in early September and drilled in mid-October alongside some drilled rye plots. We will also share key takeaways from our first year of research on camelina, along with valuable lessons learned for future initiatives. Refreshments, including drinks and snacks, will be provided.
