Event Description

Enjoy the outdoors, learn about the natural world, and forge new friendships by joining the Friends of Donald Park on a restoration workday. This winter we'll clear invasive species from an oak savanna site to foster the preservation and rejuvenation of white and bur oak trees. We may also cast seed in areas we have worked in for the last several years.

Details: We work in teams and no experience is necessary.

What to wear/bring: Old clothes, sturdy shoes and garden or leather gloves if you have them. (We have some to lend out.) Please bring water, we will provide tools and cookies.

Meeting location: To be determined depending on the day's task. The work party leader will give you the location after you RSVP. Arrive by 12:45 to check in.

RSVP to the work party leader, Liz McBride: elizabeth-mcbride@sbcglobal.net, 608-698-2753. Please RSVP by the Friday before the workday so she can give you the meeting location and reach you if weather forces to cancel.

Accessibility:

  • Volunteers should be comfortable with walking on uneven terrain.
  • The work area will likely be a short walk from the entrance.
  • There is a pit toilet at Donald Park
