Native Plant Propagation - Pot and Tray Washing Day!

Did you know the Dane County Land & Water Resources Department has a program that provides free native plants to schools and community groups? Since the program began, we have distributed more than 37,000 plants. Many of these plants are grown by volunteers! In an effort to reduce plastic waste and lower program costs, we try to reuse plant pots and trays each year. To do this, we rinse and sanitize the pots to reduce the risk of spreading pathogens or plant diseases. We are hosting a pot and tray washing day! Volunteers will help us scrub, sanitize and lay pots and trays out to dry. These supplies will be used for the 2024 growing program.

Event Details:

• Please register by signing up for one or more shifts on MyImpact. (You will need to make an account in our volunteer portal if you have not already done so).
• The shifts are 9am-12pm and 1pm-3pm both days.
• This event will be a little wet and messy so wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet! We will provide gloves for volunteers working with the sanitizer. Boots or waterproof shoes are highly recommended.
• We will be working in a heated building with bathroom access and a water fountain.
